schulze showpieces

Having just about recovered from all the excitement of last year when the Schulze Organ was re-launched after restoration and re-ordering, we relaxed for a couple of days, trying to decide what next. The answer was obvious – our very own CD of the new organ!
In saying that it is our very own recording we should qualify that by admitting that the excellent resources of a university’s electronics department were utilised, but the engineer responsible was our erstwhile choirboy, Dr. Tim Collins.
More important than that was being able to persuade Chris Newton, our Assistant Organist, to reproduce one of his notorious Spring Bank Holiday concerts of music for all. We did manage to steer him away from the latest additions to his repertoire, performed during the extravaganza weekend of 2004 – music from Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings!
The new CD was recorded in August,2004, and released locally just before Christmas when it was eagerly snapped up by Chris’s many fans in the Armley congregation. Using our own resources has enabled us to keep the cost of the CD at a very reasonable level. |
